R.I.P Ilhan Mimaroglu.
Agony was the first piece by Mimaroglu that I’d heard. From the Turnabout LP Electronic Music. Which also just so happened to be the first LP of early electronic music I ever bought. I sampled bits of of it on my first CD-R (before I new better.)
Agony was a tribute to the painter Arshile Gorky and was composed in May 1965 at the Columbia Princeton Electronic Music Center.
