”
Peter Zinovieff 3 CD set
Also on that visionary note comes the long awaited 3 cd set from EMS synthi pioneer Peter Zinovieff. Zinovieff’s work - previously unreleased and unknown outside a hipster cognoscenti since the works inception in the early 60s - remains a long lost key-stone in the history of electronic and computer music and composition. His pioneering work in the field, both solo and collaborative with the likes of Delia Derbyshire, Alan Sutcliffe (author of the ‘Like..’ programme used as a banner on the Sonic Boom site), Hans Werner Henze & Sir Harrison Birtwistle are collected here for the first time and reveal why both the Beatles, Stockhausen and Pink Floyd were at the front of the queue to buy his products and engage his verve.
Including a 60+ page booklet, Peter Zinovieff - Electronic Calendar should be with us from Space Age recordings around December.”
Well it’s almost March folks…

EMS publicity materials presumably from around 1970.
- Top: the Synthi VCS3, the Synthi A, and the Synthi KB1.
- Bottom: the Synthi 100, aka the Delaware. “First customers include the BBC, Radio Belgrade, and the University of Wales.” According to Niebur, the BBC paid £5,400 for the Synthi 100 in 1970, which according to at least one calculator is equivalent to US$87,000 in 2011 money.
